Skating History: Congratulations to Meryl Davis and Charlie White!!

Congratulations to Meryl Davis and Charlie White for becoming the first American ice dance team to win a World Figure Skating Championships title!!

Below are a look at both of Meryl and Charlie's programs at the Worlds.

They finished second by a very close margin after the short dance to Olympic Champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada, but won the freeskate by more than four points to capture the gold medal! Their Canadian rivals were out all season due to Tessa's shin injuries/surgery. Though Meryl/Charlie were undefeated this season, it was one of their more challenging ones. They changed segments of their program a number of times, and had to work hard a new style of skating, but in the end, this will go down as their most successful season, proving that struggle and perseverance lead to the ultimate prize. In Moscow, Meryl and Charlie were passionate, dynamic, fast, fit, sophisticated, and precise. They're a phenomenal team and I'm so proud of their historic achievement!

P.s.) Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani, competing in their first year as seniors, won the bronze medal in their first World Championships! An amazing accomplishment! Americans finish 1st and 3rd!
