The World Figure Skating Championships begin a week from today. As a way to gear up for the big event, I'll post some videos that are a preview of what's to come.
Today's post is of 19-year-old Richard Dornbush's terrific freeskate to "Sherlock Holmes" from the U.S. National Championships in January. Richard moved up from 7th after the short program to win the freeskate and finish 2nd overall. He will be competing in his first senior World Championships next week in Moscow as the reigning Junior Grand Prix Final champion with nothing to lose.
The U.S. Nationals was the first time I'd ever seen Richard skate and I became an instant fan. Not only was he technically perfect, he was also an engaging performer. I will be rooting for him next week!
Enjoy Richard's "Sherlock Holmes":
