Jeremy Abbott's "Bring Him Home" by Alfie Boe

Jeremy Abbott has always skated with heart. He's received criticism sometimes for not getting the competitive results that he is capable of, but when it's all said and done, his skating is pure, beautiful, and always genuine. That, to me, is worth it's weight in competitive results.

Ever since the first time I saw Jeremy skate, which was probably about 2007 during the Grand Prix series, I was drawn to the way he moved across the ice--the run of the edge, the fluidity of the movement, the passion I felt radiating through his performance. Over the years, Jeremy not only repeated those qualities in each performance, but ultimately became a master of his craft.

I just came across this exhibition from last season to "Bring Him Home" by Alfie Boe from Les Miserables. I have listened to this song before, and it's absolutely brilliant. What a perfect song to combine with the quiet power of Jeremy's skating.

This piece is a great example of how stunning Jeremy's skating is. In honor of his 30th birthday, which was yesterday, I hope you enjoy this classic Jeremy Abbott performance. There is no doubt in my mind that Jeremy is a "skater's skater," who will be remembered for a very long time. Thank you, Jeremy, for bringing your fans so much joy over the years!
