Never Give Up: Michelle Kwan's "Scheherazade" by Rimsky-Korsakov
Shortly after Michelle Kwan's devastating loss at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, she came to the World Championships in Nagano, Japan--ironically, the site of the previous Olympic Games in which she experienced her first Olympic upset--and delivered a courageous and strong performance to win her seventh World medal, a silver. Kwan's Olympic heartbreak--with the entire world watching-- was profound, yet I admire how she so quickly picked up the pieces and delivered yet another vintage Kwan performance at Worlds, once again proving her mettle. Michelle is such an inspiration to me when times are tough. She always said that who she admires the most is not the one who wins all the time, but the one who has fallen, been trampled on, and gets up again to fight. Michelle's spirit mirrors that of the great Winston Churchill, who said, "Never never never give up."
Enjoy Michelle's triumphant post-Olympic World Championship skate to "Scheherazade" by Rimsky-Korsakov.
