About the Author

I have been a dedicated figure skating fan for the last 28 years. I am not a skater myself, though I have taken lessons and skate for fun. I was lucky enough to grow up during the epic career of Michelle Kwan, who inspired me with her honesty, joy, good sportsmanship, humility and grace on and off the ice. To this day, she's my favorite skater and role model. I've also been inspired by countless other brilliant skaters that have brought so much enjoyment into my life. Skating at its best imparts an emotion that lingers and teaches life lessons about winning, losing, hard work, tenacity, belief in oneself and passion! I have a degree in Journalism from Penn State. I also have a degree in English and a Master's of Education from Bloomsburg University. I have been a freelance journalist for a number of newspapers, magazines, and University alumni publications for the last 21 years. I love watching sports and am a huge fan of the Olympic Games! I greatly enjoy spending time with friends, family, and my family's cats.

Mission Statement

The purpose of this blog is to share some of the joy and happiness that figure skating has given me over the years. You don’t have to be a skating fan to appreciate the brilliance of the figure skaters highlighted on this blog.

By posting regular videos, I hope to share with you some of my favorite programs from skaters that you may have heard of, and also programs from skaters who you may not have heard of, but won’t soon forget.

Figure Skating, at its best, transcends sport and becomes art. The best skaters can take you on a journey of emotions.

I hope that through this blog, skating can bring as much joy and inspiration into your days as it has for me! I feel privileged to be a fan of this sport, and I am proud and excited to be sharing it with all of you!

"It's absolutely beautiful; it's got music, it's got choreography, it's got personality,
it's got competition, it's got the Olympic Games--what else is there that you need in the world?"
~Dick Button, 2-time Olympic gold medalist about figure skating
